Promoting the future

Make Your Voice Heard

Unless we do something, entrenched interests will continue to prevent or discourage private ownership of solar energy and work to restrict solar’s access to the energy grid.

01. If you're a solar energy supporter, then let your legislator know that solar energy is important to you.
02. Your state legislators in Frankfort need to understand the importance of solar energy to Kentucky's future, and there's one way to let them know - contact them!

About Us

A Value for the Industry and a Voice for Consumers

KYSEIA, which is the Kentucky chapter of the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA), is the preeminent solar organization in Kentucky. With more members than any other solar advocacy group in the Commonwealth, KYSEIA has strong representation from residential, commercial/industrial and utility-scale solar.

That translates into successful advocacy, sound resources for members and consumers, and strong outreach for members’ projects.

Our Record of Success:

With a statewide network of members representing all sectors of the industry, KYSEIA is a  successful advocate representing the interests of the solar industry and our consumers, including:

  •     Successfully defended Kentucky’s net-metering law for three consecutive years despite being outspent 10-1 by solar opponents
  •     Stopped two restrictive land-use bills in 2020 and 2021
  •     Actively monitor all regulated utility rate cases at the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) and filed complaints when necessary
  •     Engage in all proceedings at PSC that could potentially impact Kentucky’s solar industry and consumers
  •     Involved in all actions and activities related to large scale solar at the Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting (State Siting Board)
  •     Work closely with the Governor’s office, policy-making and regulatory agencies
  •     Assemble coalitions of like-minded groups to support our efforts
  •     Established a PAC

“Partnering and collaborating with KYSEIA has strengthened our ability to develop utility-scale solar projects across the commonwealth.”
